Which model is really the smallest digital camera? That is not an easy question to answer. Digital cameras are gradually getting smaller with each new model, some of them down to sizes that would have been totally impossible 15 years ago. The next question would be “Are small digital cameras as useful as standard sized models?” The easy answer is a yes. Ones that are no longer or bigger than your forefinger and that can fit right into the palm of your hand are as functional as normal sizes of digital camera.
Though smaller versions of today’s digital cameras are not as good for professional photography, they are just as good for your standard photos as their bigger camera counterparts. It is standard in all digital cameras to come standard with flashing, focus, and zoom. Though best part is that they are not as expensive as bigger versions. But there is good reason for that.
A large amount of of the smallest digital cameras do not have a lot of standard space to store pictures, and because they are so small, you will most likely have to buy a Micro SD card. These are getting cheaper by the month it seems like, so this is not a huge problem. What is an issue is that many miniature digital cameras do not have a built-in screen for you to view the pictures that you have taken. This has become a common feature for any normal-sized models so it may be difficult to get used to. Not being able to check to see if a picture is just right can end in some not-so-great photographs.
Additionally, some units also do not have the ability to record movies, which is another familiar feature that has come to be common in digital cameras. This is one factor that truly convinces consumers not to buy many of the smallest digital camera, but if you are not worried about with taking videos then it should be not be a big set back.
The reality is, these kinds of cameras are almost a novelty. They are quite cute, and it is surprising that something that is so small can actually take high quality pictures. However, they often get lost easily and some of the discounted models on retailer’s shelves can cease to work if dropped only one time. They are to be used with great care. Losing all of the pictures you have kept on a digital camera can be frustrating, if not enraging.
At the heart, the smallest digital camera is definitely an inexpensive alternative your standard-sized, multifunctional version model. These are good if you are looking for a camera to have to take on the road or to give to a friend or family member. So they are handy gadgets, but if you are really serious about taking pictures then it will probably be better to look for something else.
Before buying any digital camera, determine your needs and think about whether you could use the smallest digital camera.
