It is reported that 75% of women will suffer from yeast infections at some point in their lives. Although this is a common infection many women still find it difficult to discuss the problem with their doctors. Yeast infections when being discussed by the medical profession are also referred to as Candida. However such infections are more common in the elderly and in people who have to wear dentures. But the main thing to note that with most cases of yeast infection in both children and adults is that they can be treated very easily.

However there are some cases, which are extremely rare where the infection can actually spread throughout the body. In these cases the success rate of someone surviving such an infection is 1 in 4. Even people who suffer from yeast infections of the mouth or vaginal area can find that the illness can be quite critical and may not be effectively treated using traditional medications.

Certainly the biggest problem we face today when it comes to yeast infections, even though diagnosing it is easy, is what has actually caused it to occur in the first place. There are many different things which can cause an infection to happen for example a person who has been taking antibiotics for another kind of infection may develop a yeast infection. This is because unfortunately their immune system has become comprised and so they do not have sufficient antibodies in their body to be able to fight of the yeast fungi as it begins to multiply.
